Abstract :
The results of Mössbauer measurements on BaFe12-xMexO19(Me=In, Sc) are reported and discussed. The preferential occupation by Sc and In of the lattice sites inside the hexagonal block of the structure (R block) leads to a perturbation of the collinear axial order. Our data confirm the formation, in the substituted compounds, of a canted block magnetic structure. Part of the iron ions in the 12 k sublattice displays a decrease of the magnetic moment with increasing temperature more marked than that of the remaining ones. There is also some evidence that these "weakened" k ions behave as a non interacting "quasiferromagnetic" system.
