Abstract
Pure coprecipitated barium ferrite powder is prepared and doped with SiO2 which is an excellent grain growth inhibitor. The pure as well as the doped powder is prepressed and then hot-pressed uniaxially to samples. Some of the doped samples are sintered after hot-pressing. The static magnetic properties of all samples are measured and correlated to scanning electron micrographs. The experiments show that in the later stage of hot-pressing oriented grain growth is the main reason for the increase of the degree of texture with increasing pressing time.
