Abstract :
Dicoding is analysed for optical-fibre communication systems and system performance compared with uncoded binary signals. The analysis shows that receiver sensitivities close to that achievable with binary data can be obtained and that decision feedback may even allow some sensitivity improvement (1.1 dB). Dicoding offers possible dynamic range inprovement and some potential for receiver simplification particularly at high bit rates.
