Abstract :
Iron foil, electrodeposited as a continuous sheet between 10 and 200 μm thick, has been examined with regard to its possible use as a soft magnetic material. Hysteresis loops, yielding coercive field and initial permeability, have been obtained from as-produced foil and material with larger grains induced by high temperature annealing and also a strain-anneal treatment. Although such treatments improved the magnetic properties very significantly, we conclude that this material is unlikely to find application as a soft magnetic material.
