Abstract :
The mechanisms of magnetic particle capture by current-carrying conductors are examined. Equations are derived which describe particle trajectories in the vicinity of cylindrical conductors in terms of an amperian magnetic velocity. Some preliminary filtration experiments with a current-carrying wire matrix are also described.
