Abstract :
The experiment of soaking the optical fibre cable in water is carried out. As a result, a tremendously large transmission loss increase is observed at 1.24 ¿m. Through a fundamental experiment, it is shown that hydrogen permeation causes the transmission loss increase in optical fibres.
