Abstract
In a complex system with equipment of varying generations and cables with large differences in signal and power levels, it is extremely important to have the interference level under full control. The electromagnetic coupling between two cables is determined by a number of factors, such as distance, lenght of parallelism and shield effectiveness. In the present paper, a method is proposed for the computation of mutual-coupling between a power conductor and a shielded parallel cable, starting from the analysis of the electromagnetic equations, without having to pass through field computation. By the present method, it is possible to examine the influence of geometrical and electric parameters on the electromagnetic coupling between two cables, with a view to obtaining the desired shielding effectiveness.
