Abstract
This article discusses electromagnetic induction used for near field communications. It begins by outlining magnetic fields, and the difference between near field and far field propagation. It then describes various applications which could make use of near field propagation. These include: short range data communications; medical implants; and human interfaces requiring position sensing.
