Abstract
In this paper several approaches that could be used for eddy current computation in three dimensions are compared. Only partial differential equation formulations are considered, using vector potentials or stream functions. Results from computer programs that use these methods are given for steady state alternating current problems. The finite element method was used for this study, and improved economy was achieved by ensuring symmetry of the linear equations.
