Abstract :
A new method for polarisation modal dispersion measurement of polarisation-maintaining fibres is presented. By using a laser diode and a Michelson interferometer, polarisation modal dispersion is determined from the path difference between the two interference peaks which arise from the interference between HE11x and HE11y modes.
