Abstract :
Co-V films with the c-axis of the hcp structure strongly oriented normal to the film plane were prepared by RF-sputtering. The formation of a perpendicular magnetic recording mode was inferred from the measurement of the recording characteristics. It was also found that the anisotropy field (Hk) of the recording medium did not always need to exceed the demagnetizing field (4πMs) in order to display perpendicular recording.
