Abstract :
While Lotus makes use of a whole multitude of programs in its design process, it has taken longer for the digital approach to permeate the manufacturing side of its operations. The company wanted to make sure that any change or added process or software addition had to demonstrate some added value to the process. Using digital simulation, Lotus was able to reduce the time from concept to prototype as well as the duration of actual prototype construction. This allowed new models to be tested much quicker and helped reduce product delivery time.
