Abstract :
In this paper, some new ways to achieve single-pass color magnetic printing are explored both theoratically and experimentally. The basic requirement here is to put all the constraints on the print engine itself and none -- except the color -- on the toner particles. More precisely, the main features, common to all the described methods, are : (1) color-coded single latent magnetic image, (2) toners of same physical characteristics except color, (3) advantages of perpendicular recording on a drum-based magnetographic engine. The image parameters used for color coding are described. Single parameter coding is first analysed. Then redundant coding on two parameters with additional specific advantages is presented. The main justifications are based on previous work on magnetographic development, but early experimental results are also shown and discussed.
