  • Abstract
    Linear optical amplifiers combined with dispersion compensating Raman fiber amplifiers were used to successfully transmit sixteen channels of 10-Gb/s wavelength-division-multiplexing signals over four 40-km spans of single-mode fiber. No add-drop-induced penalty was observed after the 160-km transmission when 15 out of 16 channels were dynamically add-dropped.
