Abstract
Wideband radio channel sounders based on the correlation of pseudorandom maximal length sequences are a commonly used tool for channel characterization purposes. However, a larger dynamic range can be achieved, and wideband parameter estimation can be improved by using Golay sequences. This is important when dealing with large attenuation, as at millimeter frequencies. The theoretical and experimental improvement of sounder performance by using Golay sequences is analyzed in this paper. Measurements, using both kinds of sequences, have been performed. Channel functions and parameters have been calculated and compared
