Comparative analysis of the magnetic properties of oriented silicon steels and metallic glasses

To determine those factors influencing the selection of materials for transformer core applications, ac and dc magnetic properties were measured over a range of temperatures and inductions on commercial and light gage (0.22 to 0.10 mm) grain oriented silicon steels. These properties were compared to the properties of selected metallic glasses.
