Abstract :
The structured coil approach is extended to cases where nonlinear ferromagnetic materials are present, and several examples of its application are given. The design of an ultrashort 4-T 1-m-bore MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) shielded magnet is considered. Magnet homogeneity and any combination of active and passive shielding can be optimized simultaneously
