Abstract :
A finite-element method (FEM) for determining the electromagnetic scattering by an inhomogeneous cylinder illuminated by an obliquely incident plane wave is presented. The sparsity of the finite-element matrix is preserved through the use of an absorbing boundary condition for mesh truncation. The numerical results obtained using this technique are compared with those generated using the bymoment method
