Abstract
The use of object-oriented programming (OOP) techniques in developing a program and a relatively small knowledge-base of electromagnetic concepts, analytical tools, heuristics and devices is presented. How such an integration provides a true automated environment for device synthesis and design is also described. After considering the syntax and semantics of electromagnetics and presenting an overview of an OOP environment, the authors examine modeling devices in electromagnetics, implementation aspects of the semantic network of electromagnetic concepts, and performing experiments with the system
