Abstract
Two types of 10T dipoles are currently being considered for the next generation of particle accelerators, NbTi conductors at 1.8K or Nb3 Sn conductors at 4.2K. A theoretical analysis of conductor transient stability for these two modes of operation is presented. The aim is to ascertain the construction mode with the maximum stability and performance prospects.
