Abstract
Requirements for the manipulation of the large amounts of data produced by the finite element analysis of 3-D electromagnetic fields are discussed. The most effective means of evaluating the data are explored, the special facilities a postprocessor should provide to allow visualization of electromagnetic fields and evaluation of derived field quantities are discussed, and a novel method for providing the flexibility required to give the engineer and scientist an effective tool is introduced
