Abstract :
How a military reconnaissance system concept has been adapted to produce engravings for printing textiles is perhaps one of the more unusual cases of technology transfer. Yet the Orchard Corporation of America, using the adapted systems, is having an impact on the textile industry. The Response System 200, built by an Israeli company called Sci-Tex, is enabling Orchard to slash by more than 50 percent the time it takes to produce printed fabric from artists´ sketches.
