Abstract
-A moving coil actuator for a high performance disk drive is simulated to study the effect of parameter variations on average access time, A group of sensitive parameters are identified. There is an optimum force factor which minimizes access time for a fixed set of parameters. Simple, empirical formulas yield the optimum force factor for a specified stroke length and access time.
