Abstract :
Mixed oxides in the binary LaMnO3-BaMno3system investigated for their crystallographic characteristics and for their paramagnetic properties. X-ray crystallography revealed the existence of a miscibility gap that is significantly wider than previously reported in this binary oxide system. In this two phase region, the magnitude of the magnetic moments extracted from the Curie-Weiss paramagnetism exhibited by these oxides were found to be consistent with previously reported results taken from saturation magnetization measurements at low temperatures. This suggests that both terminal solid solution oxide components of this two phase region are ordered ferromagnetically as a result of a positive indirect exchange interaction between Mn4+and Mn3+ions through an oxygen intermediary.
