Abstract :
An experimental magnetic printing device employing a novel low background development process is described. Printing characteristics of patterns with a resolution of 10 dots/mm (254 dpi) were evaluated as a function of the system variables. Line and pattern print was used to establish the operating margins of recording parameters (such as drive current and medium thickness} and developing parameters (such as toner medium interference and toner blanket thickness). Print quality could be improved by applying a vacuum clean-up step on the developed image.
