Abstract
HV (high-voltage) and EHV (extra high voltage) power transmission lines impose hazards to generators connected to these lines that can be potentially more severe than similar hazards imposed to generators connected to lower-voltage transmission lines. A number of these hazards are reviewed, and some of the protection schemes and/or equipment techniques used in the industry to detect and/or minimize these hazards are discussed.<>
