Abstract :
For pt.I see ibid., vol.8, no.3, p.1189-91, 1993. The development of a 550 kV 1-break gas blast circuit breaker is described. To reduce drive energy and sliding speed a new drive system, in which a contact conventionally fixed is moved in the direction opposite to the movement of movable contact, was adopted. As a result, size reduction becomes possible while maintaining reliability. It is also found that applying this 1-break gas circuit breaker to gas insulated switchgear greatly reduces its size.<>
