Abstract
Isotope identification instruments fulfill an important role in reducing the risk of a successful radiological or nuclear terrorist attack. However, different users and scenarios require different characteristics in these instruments. We examine the various features such as durability, usability, and algorithm found in commercially available instruments and describe the circumstances that favor their use.
