Abstract :
Optical sampling using an ultrafast monolithic optical gate integrating a photodiode (PD) and an electroabsorption modulator (EAM) has been demonstrated. Using this system, the fixed data and eye patterns of 80 Gbit/s return-to-zero signals were successfully observed.
