Abstract :
An interactive package of computer programs interfacing a general purpose finite element system for the solution of coupled transient nonlinear electromagnetic, thermal, and structural problems in Bitter plate tokamaks is discussed. Taken into account are the variations in material, thermal, and electrical properties with temperature and the magnetoresistivity. The transient analysis is incremental. At a given moment of the toroidal field pulse it generates the magnetic induction penetrations, the current density and temperature distributions, and the Lorentz body forces in the Bitter plates.
