The Competency Requirements for Academic Librarians of Medical Universities in Iran

مقدمه: آموزش هاي كتابداري و اطلاع رساني پزشكي در سطوح مختلف، تعليم نيروي انساني را براي كار در كتابخانه هاي مختلف پزشكي دنبال مي كنند. هدف اين پژوهش، بررسي صلاحيت هاي موردنياز كتابداران دانشگاه هاي علوم پزشكي كشور و ميزان تطابق آن با سرفصل هاي رشته كتابداري و اطلاع رساني پزشكي است. روش كار: پژوهش حاضر از نوع كاربردي است و به شيوه پيمايشي در سال 1395 انجام گرفته است. جامعه آماري پژوهش، اعضاي هيات علمي گروه كتابداري پزشكي، مديران كتابخانه ها و كتابداران شاغل در دانشگاه هاي علوم پزشكي كشور بودند كه 240 نفر به شيوه ي نمونه گيري تصادفي طبقه اي انتخاب شده اند. جمع آوري داده ها با استفاده از پرسشنامه ي محقق ساخته انجام گرفته است. داده ها با استفاده از نرم افزار آماري SPSS نسخه 22 تحليل شد. يافته ها: نتايج پژوهش نشان داد، از ديدگاه اعضاي هيات علمي صلاحيت هاي جستجوي اطلاعات، از ديدگاه مديران كتابخانه ها صلاحيت هاي مديريتي و از ديدگاه كتابداران صلاحيت هاي فردي و اخلاقي به عنوان صلاحيت هاي اصلي شناسايي شدند، از ديدگاه هر سه جامعه مورد بررسي، صلاحيت هاي پژوهش، به عنوان كم اهميت ترين صلاحيت ها بيان شدند. هم چنين ميزان انطباق صلاحيت هاي موردنياز كتابداران با سرفصل هاي رشته كتابداري و اطلاع رساني پزشكي، در مقطع كارشناسي 60 درصد و در مقطع كارشناسي ارشد 66 درصد ارزيابي شد. نتيجه گيري: كتابداران پزشكي به منظور ارتقاء دانش و مهارت هاي حرفه اي خود لازم است از توانايي هاي حرفه اي برخوردار باشند و مجموعه صلاحيت هاي ارائه شده در اين پژوهش مي تواند براي حرفه كتابداري و اطلاع رساني پزشكي مفيد و موثر واقع شود.

Introduction: The major objective of library and information science education is to train skilled human resources for medical libraries. This study aimed to explore the competencies required for librarians in medical universities, and their conformity with library and information science syllabi in Iran. Methods: This applied survey, was conducted in 2016-2017. The population of the study consisted of all faculty members of library and information science departments, the librarians and library directors of medical universities from among whom a total number of 240 persons were randomly selected. A questionnaire was used for collecting data which were then analyzed using SPSS version 22. Results: According to the findings, searching information, managerial and personal and ethical competencies were considered as the most important competencies from the perspective of faculty members, library directors and librarians, respectively. The results also indicated that research competencies were considered as the least important competencies by the three groups. The conformity of required competencies for librarians with library and information science syllabi at undergraduate postgraduate levels was 60 and 66%, respectively. Conclusion: Medical librarians are required to acquire necessary abilities to enhance their professional knowledge and skills. The competencies presented in this study can be helpful for medical library and information profession
