A Comparative Study on the Features of Specialized Electronic Dental Record Systems

مقدمه: تحقق پرونده الكترونيك دندان پزشكي با مشكلات متعددي روبرواست. قابليت هاي محدود نرم افزار هاي دندان پزشكي يكي از موانع استفاده از اين سيستم ها مي باشد؛ بنابراين، پژوهش حاضر با هدف شناسايي و مقايسه قابليت هاي پرونده الكترونيك دندان پزشكي تخصصي انجام شد. روش كار: اين پژوهش توصيفي-تطبيقي در سال 1395 انجام شد. جامعه پژوهش شامل 140 سيستم پرونده الكترونيك دندان پزشكي از كشورهاي مختلف بود كه بر اساس متون شناسايي شد. به وب سايت اين برنامه ها مراجعه شد. نرم افزارهايي كه وب سايت فعال نداشتند يا سيستم مورد نظر براي استفاده در دندان پزشكي عمومي معرفي شده بود، از مطالعه حذف شدند. در نهايت 23 سيستم به عنوان نمونه پژوهش انتخاب شد. چك ليست مورد استفاده بر اساس بررسي متون طراحي شد و روايي آن، با دريافت نظرات متخصصين تاييد شد. پژوهشگر نسخه آزمايشي و فهرست قابليت هاي اين نرم افزارها را در وب سايت آنها بررسي كرد. براي تحليل داده ها، از آمار توصيفي (فراواني و درصد فراواني) استفاده شد. يافته ها: رايج ترين قابليت هاي سيستم هاي پرونده الكترونيك دندان پزشكي تخصصي عبارتند از: مديريت قرارملاقات ها (73/9درصد)، رسم نمودارهاي باليني مختلف (60/9درصد)، رديابي مسائل مالي مطب (56/5درصد)، يادآور براي امور اداري(43/5 درصد)، هشدارهاي مختلف در موضوعات باليني (34/8 درصد)، ايجاد گزارش هاي مختلف (30/4درصد)، پيگيري درخواست هاي بيمه اي (30/4 درصد)، ثبت تصوير دهان و دندان بيمار (26درصد) و مديريت فرآيند پرداخت (23/7درصد). نتيجه گيري: توجه نكردن به قابليت هاي سيستم هاي پرونده الكترونيك دندان پزشكي موجب مشكلاتي در پذيرش اين سيستم ها مي شود. توجه به كاركردها و قابليت ها بر اساس نياز كاربران و ذينفعان اين سيستم براي طراحان نرم افزار در راستاي برطرف كردن مشكلات سيستم و تامين نيازهاي مديريتي و باليني ضروري است.

Introduction: There are many problems to achieve the adoption of electronic dental record systems. Limited functionalities are one of the most important barriers to the use of electronic dental records. Therefore, this study aimed to identify and compare features and functionalities of specialized electronic dental record systems. Methods: This descriptive-comparative study was conducted in 2016. Using previous published materials, 140 electronic dental record systems from different countries were identified. The websites of these systems were reviewed. The systems without a website or identified as software for general dental clinics were excluded from the study. Finally, 23 specialized electronic dental record systems were included. We developed a checklist based on a literature review. The content validity of the checklist was confirmed by experts. Using this checklist, researcher studied the features and functions of these systems based on the information available in websites and Demo versions of the systems. Descriptive statistics and comparative tables were used for data analysis. Results: The most common features of the systems were: visiting management (73.9%), drawing different clinical charts (60.9%), tracking financial issues of the office (56.5%), providing reminders for administrative affairs (43.5%), providing various alerts for clinical issues (34.8%), generating various reports (30.4%), tracking the insurance claims electronically (30.4%), capturing patients’ oral images and radiographic studies (26%), and managing the payment and reimbursement processes (23.7%). Conclusion: Lack of attention to features of electronic dental record systems may result in problems in the adoption of such systems by dentists. Developing appropriate functions and features based on the dentists’ needs is a must for software developers to resolve the systems issues and fulfill the administrative and clinical requirements.
