امروزه انديشمندان اسلامي در پي تحقق آرمان قرآني و تكوين امت واحده اسلامي هستند، همان آرماني كه در صدر اسلام توسط پيامبر (ص) محقق گشت و در اندك زماني از اعراب متفرق جاهلي، امتي منسجم، متمدن و قدرتمند ساخت. قدرت نوظهور فوق توانست در برابر تمدن‌هاي باشكوه آن دوران قد علم كند و تا مدت‌ها قدرت بلامنازع دوران خود بود و آثار بسيار عميقي در ابعاد اقتصادي، فرهنگي، سياسي، هنري بجاي گذاشت كه از آن به‌عنوان «تمدن اسلامي» ياد مي‌شود. شاخصه بارز تمدن اسلامي، توانمندي درون بطني آن است كه در هر زمان و مكاني قابليت بازيابي دارد و مي‌تواند محتواي آن را شكوفا سازد. در دوران معاصر كه تمدن اسلامي دچار خمودگي و سستي شده مصلحان بزرگي در پي شكوفايي توانمندي درون بطني آن برآمده‌اند. امام خميني (ره) متفكر بزرگ اسلامي، ضمن بيان تئوري تشكيل امت واحده اسلامي، به تشريح علل و عوامل چالش‌ها و مشكلات فراروي مسلمانان و تمدن اسلامي پرداخته است. اين مقاله با روش توصيفي – تحليلي در پي يافتن پاسخ به اين پرسش‌هاست كه امام خميني نسبت به بازدارنده‌هاي پيشِ روي امت واحده اسلامي چه ديدگاهي دارد؟ و چه راهكارهايي براي رفع مشكلات تمدن اسلامي ارائه كرده‌اند؟ نتايج پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد، فرقه‌گرايي، جهاني‌سازي، عدم رهبري واحد در بين مسلمانان، وجود حاكمان ظالم و فاسد، ترويج اسلام آمريكايي، وابستگي كشورهاي مسلمان به بيگانگان از مهم‌ترين چالش‌هاي پيشِ روي امت اسلامي است و استكبارستيزي، وحدت و خودباوري مسلمانان و استمرار بيداري اسلامي راهكارهاي امام خميني (ره) براي رفع چالش‌ها و مشكلات جهان اسلام هستند.
