Cultural and Political Conservatism: The Significance of Moral Foundations

سنجش تأثير بنيان­ هاي اخلاقي بر زواياي مختلف زندگي فرهنگي و اجتماعي و سياسي مشكل است زيرا هنوز داده‌هاي كافي در اين مورد وجود ندارد. اما بدون شك نفوذ عوامل اخلاقي بر رفتار انسان قطعي است. اولويت‌هاي اخلاقي اگرچه به خودي خود تعيين كننده نيستند اما يك مؤلفه از نظام پيچيده عوامل علي هستند كه مي‌توانند عامل برانگيزاننده مهمي در بلند مدت باشند. در اين راستا، در اين پژوهش سعي شده است تا با استفاده از الگوي بنيان‌هاي اخلاقي هيت و گراهام، به بررسي تاثيرات ارزش‌هاي اخلاقي بر جهت گيري شهروندان نسبت به محافظه‌كاري در عرصه‌هاي سياسي و فرهنگي در بين دانشجويان دانشگاه اصفهان پرداخته شود. اين پژوهش همچنين به مقايسه ميزان اهميت نسبي بنيان‌هاي اخلاقي به عنوان متغير تبيين كننده هر يك از نگرش‌هاي محافظه‌كاري سياسي و فرهنگي مي‌پردازد. نتايج اين پژوهش نشان مي‌دهد كه بنيان­هاي اخلاقي با ضريب تعيين 45% بيشترين واريانس محافظه­ كاري فرهنگي را توضيح مي­دهد. همچنين، يافته ­هاي پژوهش نشان مي­دهد تنها دو متغير مراقبت و احترام به مرجعيت بر روي متغير محافظه‌كاري سياسي تاثيرگذار هستند كه در اين ميان درحالي كه اخلاق مراقبت باعث كاهش محافظه­ كاري سياسي مي‌گردد، اما متغير احترام به مرجعيت باعث افزايش گرايش به محافظه‌كاري سياسي مي­شود. از سوي ديگر يافته‌ها براي محافظه‌كاري فرهنگي حاكي از آن است كه سه متغير مراقبت، احترام به مرجعيت و تقدس عوامل تأثيرگذار بر روي محافظه ­كاري فرهنگي بودند. در اين راستا، درحالي كه متغيرهاي تقدس و احترام به مرجعيت باعث افزايش گرايش به محافظه ­كاري فرهنگي مي­گردد اما متغير مراقبت افزايش در ميزان كثرت­گرايي فرهنگي را سبب مي ­شود.

Assessing the effect of moral foundations on different aspects of socio-cultural and political life is difficult because there has not been sufficient data yet. However, doubtlessly, the influence of moral factors on humans’ behaviors is definitive. Although moral priorities are not necessarily determinant, they construct a complicated system of causal factors which can be important motivating factor in long term periods. Accordingly, the present study aims at investigate the effects of moral values on citizens’ orientations towards conservatism in cultural and political domains among students of University of Isfahan using Haidt and Graham’s Moral Foundations Theory. The present study also is to compare the degree of the relative significance of moral foundations as a variable determining of each ideas of political and cultural conservatism. The results of the present study indicate that moral foundations with coefficient determination as 45% can explain the highest variance of cultural conservatism. In addition, findings of the present study indicate that only two variables of care and respecting authority are effective on political conservatism, while care morality causes the reduction in political conservatism and the variable of respecting authority causes the increase in tendency towards political conservatism
