Eclectronic Logbook for surgical registrars

پيش زمينه: مستند كردن، بررسي و رصد تجربيات و اطلاعات جراحي يكي از روشهاي مهم ارزيابي تمرينات جراحي است. براي رسيدن به اين هدف مستند سازي عملهاي انجام شده توسط دستياران و ثبت كارنامه نهايي آنها براي ارزيابي مهارتهاي كسب شده آنها ميتواند موثر باشد. براي اين منظور از لاگ بوك كاغذي استفاده ميشد كه مشكلاتي اعم از وقتگير بودن و عدم دقت بالا دارد. بنابراين بر آن شديم تا لاگبوك سنتي جراحي ارتوپدي را ارتقاء داده و بتوانيم بهصورت الكترونيك گزارش كاملي از فعاليتهاي عمل جراحي دستياران به همراه مقايسه با ساير دستياران بهصورت آنلاين در اختيار كليه اساتيد قرار دهيم. مواد و روشها: در بيمارستان اختر فعاليتهاي جراحي دستياران ارتوپدي از طريق لاگبوك الكترونيك به مدت دو سال مورد ارزيابي واقع شد. لاگ بوك الكترونيك در نرمافزار اكسل طراحي و در ديتابيس گوگل داكس بارگزاري شد و اطلاعات عملهاي جراحي دستياران بهصورت طبقهبندي شده ثبت گرديد. يافتهها: لاگبوك الكترونيك به مدت دو سال در بيمارستان اختر بدون هيچگونه خطا و مشكلي اجرا شد. با استفاده از سيستم فوق دسترسي به گزارشها و اعمال جراحي دستياران و حتي تعداد عمل جراحي اساتيد در نمودارهاي مختلف، با دسترسي آسان، قابليت آرشيوبندي اطلاعات، ارزيابي مهارتها و همچنين مقايسه آن با سطوح علمي و عملي مورد انتظار ميسر گرديد و مورد بررسي و استفاده قرار گرفت. نتايج بيانگر آن بود كه رضايتمندي اساتيد و دستياران از لاگبوك الكترونيك بيشتر از لاگبوك سنتي است. نتيجهگيري: لاگبوك الكترونيك دستياران ارتوپدي مزاياي بسياري دارد و به وسيله آن به سادگي ميتوان به تعداد و اجزاي عملهاي جراحي منطبق با طرح درس اجرا شده توسط دستياران دست يافت و توانايي آنان و برخورداري از اعمال جراحي ضروري و همچنين مقايسه با ساير دستياران دانشگاههاي ديگر اقدام نمود و همچنين اين برنامه را در سطح كشور پياده كرد تا در ساير رشتههاي پزشكي اجرا كرد.

Background and Aim: Documentation, examination, and observation of surgical information and experiences are among the important methods for evaluating surgical exercises. To this end, documenting the performed surgeries by residents and submitting the final log can be effective in assessing their acquired skills. Therefore, we apply a paper logbook, which is a time-consuming process with low accuracy. As a result, the traditional orthopedic surgical logbook was improved in the present study to provide a complete electronic report on surgical activities of residents and compare their results with other residents by professors online. Materials and Methods: The surgical activities of orthopedic surgery residents in the Akhtar hospital were assessed for two years using an electronic logbook, which was designed in Excel and uploaded on Google Docs Database. In addition, information about surgeries by residents was recorded in categories. Results: The electronic logbook was implemented in the Akhtar hospital for two years without any error or problem. Using the mentioned system, it was possible to provide the reports on surgeries by residents and even the number of surgeries of professors on different diagrams, archive the information, assess the residents’ skills, and compare them to the expected scientific and practical levels. The results indicate that the satisfaction of the professors and residents from the Electronic logbook is greater than the traditional one. Conclusion: According to the results of the study, the electronic logbook of orthopedic surgery residents has many benefits and can provide easy access to the number and details of surgeries performed by the residents based on the course design. In addition, we can recognize the ability of these individuals in performing the necessary surgeries and compare them with residents of other universities. Moreover, this program can be implemented across the nation and in other medical fields.
