كتاب دستور الوزاره به زبان فارسي و به نثري استوار در سه فصل تحرير و تنظيم يافته است: مقدّمه در احوال خواجه نظام الملك، فصل اوّل در تحريض فرزند خواجه به ترك وزارت و مخاطرات آن، فصل دوم در آداب وزارت. دستور الوزاره به رغم رواج و شهرت آن كه خود موجب استنساخ بسيار فراوان از آن شده با ابهاماتي همراه بوده است: از جمله دربارة نويسنده يا نويسندگان، زمان تأليف، اختلاف گستردة كاتبان در ضبط نام كتاب و مؤلّف و.... نگارنده در اين مقاله كوشيده است، از ميان انبوه داده‌هاي ضدّ و نقيض به رأي معقول و مقبولي در اين زمينه‌ها دست يابد. در اين مقاله، براي اوّلين بار با استناد به محتواي كتاب، تصريح يكي از نسخ و نيز كتاب‌هاي ديگر ثابت شده كه نويسندة اين اثر برخلاف ادّعاي بسياري از كاتبانِ نسخه‌هاي آن و نيز محققّان معاصر، نويسنده‌اي به نام مولانا عبدالوهاب عَدْني طوسي (نيمة قرن هشتم) بوده است.
