Characterization of Kavoos in Shahnameh

زندگي كاووس كياني در شاهنامه با داستان­هايي چون داستان زاده­شدن رستم، جنگ مازندران و هفت­خوان رستم، داستان رستم و سهراب، و داستان سياووش گره­خورده­؛ و در ميان ده­هزار­بيت به صورت پررنگ و كم­رنگ ترسيم شده­است. جستجوي دقيق در اين ابيات موجب مي­شود كه خصوصيّات و بازتاب­هاي شخصيّتيكاووس بخوبي­ نمايانشود. مسلّماً با دسته­بندي و ارزيابياين ويژگي­ها، آسان­تر مي­توان به لايه­هاي دروني شخصيّت وي نفوذ كرد. آنچه­ كاووس را با ساير پادشاهان شاهنامه متفاوت ساخته، جلوه­هاي متضاد شخصيّتي وي­است: از سويي اهورايي­صفت، داراي فرّۀ ايزدي، و اهل كاوش و نيايش، و از ديگر سو اهريمني­خو، خودكامه، جنگ­طلب و كم­خرد است. برخي از صفت­هاي نسبت داده شده به كاووس تنها صفت وي نيست و اغلب شاهان شاهنامه اين ويژگي­ها را دارند در حالي كه برخي از صفات، مخصوص كاووس­شاه است. اشارۀ مختصر به هر دو دستۀ صفات براي روشن­تر شدن ابعاد شخصيّتي كاووس در شاهنامه ضروري­است و اين صفات را مي­توان به دو دستۀ عام و خاص تقسيم­كرد. به ­علاوه برخي از اين صفات مثبت و اهورايي و برخي منفي و اهريمني است. از اينرو نيز مي­توان صفات كاووس را با كمي اغماض، به دو دستۀ مثبت و منفي تقسيم­كرد. در اين پژوهش، ابتدا صفات مثبت شخصيّت كاووس، سپس صفات منفي وي مورد ارزيابي قرار مي­گيرد. در پايان، در جدولي جداگانه به عام و خاص بودن اين صفات مثبت و منفي اشاره ­مي­شود.

The life of Kavoos Kiani in Shahnameh is mixed with the stories like the birth of Rostam, Mazandaran war, Haft Khan of Rustam, the story of Rustam and Sohrab, and the story of Siavash; this has been visualized explicitly or implicitly among ten thousand couplets. A careful look at these couplets causes that the features and characteristic reactions of Kavoos can be presented well. Certainly, we can acquire inner layers of his personality by classifying and evaluating these fe atures. What distinguish Kavoos from the other kings in Shahnameh are the opposite aspects of his personality: from one side, he is Ahurayish, with divine charisma, and man of research and praise, and from the other side, devilish, autocratic, warlike and low - minded one. Some of the features attributed to Kavoos are not especially his; and most of kings in Shahnameh have these features while some of the other features are exclusively his. A careful look at the both categories of features is necessary for re vealing better the personality aspects of Kavoos in Shahnamen; these features can be classified into two categories: general and particular. In addition, some of these features are positive and Ahurayish; and others are negative and Devilish. So, roughly w e can divide features of Kavoos into two positive and negative categories. In this study, firstly positive features of Kavoos and secondly his negative ones are being evaluated. Finally, in a separate table we point to generality and particularity of these positive and negative features.
