Asher Ginzberg: the Founder of Cultural Zionism

جريان صهيونيزم داراي گرايش‌هاي مختلف و محصول شرايط و احوال متفاوت يهوديان اروپاي شرقي و غربي در سده 19 ميلادي است. صهيونيزم فرهنگي يا روحاني از جمله اين گرايش‌ها است. فهم ماهيت و موضوع صهيونيزم فرهنگي و نيز روش و اهداف آن در گرو بررسي انديشه‌هاي بنيان‌گذار آن - آشر گينزبرگ مشهور به احدهاعام- متفكر يهودي در اروپاي شرقي است. مقاله حاضر با مروري بر بيوگرافي احدهاعام، شاخص‌ترين انديشه‌هاي او را براي تأسيس صهيونيزم فرهنگي، مورد بررسي قرار داده است. مهم‌ترين برنامه‌هاي او براي نيل به اين هدف، احياء روحاني و فرهنگي قوميت يهود با استفاده از راه‌كارهايي چون تأسيس مركز فرهنگي، ايجاد نظام آموزشي با تكيه بر زبان و ادبيات عبري و بهره‌گيري از تلاش نخبگان در راستاي تحقق اين هدف بود. شناخت ديدگاه‌هاي احدهاعام كه از جمله منتقدان صهيونيزم سياسي به‌شمار مي‌رود، با توجه به تأثير اين جريان در روند وقايع عصر حاضر، حائز اهميت است. در واقع شناخت صهيونيسم فرهنگي موجب شناخت بهتري در مورد جريان صهيونيسم مي‌شود و اين‌ كه صهيونيسم تنها شامل تفكرات سياسي نيست بلكه برنامه‌ها و انديشه‌هاي ديگري را نيز دربردارد.

Zionism has different trends that are the results of the different conditions in which the Eastern and Western European Jews lived in 19th century. The cultural or spiritual Zionism is one of these trends. For understanding the nature of the cultural Zionism one should survey the ideas of Asher Ginzberg -known as Ahad Ha’am - an Eastern European Jewish thinker. This article after reviewing his biography tries to study his ideas and thoughts about the cultural Zionism. For establishing cultural Zionism, Ahad Ha’am tried to establish a Jewish cultural center, set up an educational system relying on Hebrew language and literature and employ Jewish elites. So, Ahad Ha’am, as one of the critics of political Zionism, is an important figure especially for understanding the contemporary Zionism. Indeed by surveying the cultural Zionism, one can realize that Zionism is not merely a political trend; rather than it could address other issues.
