Evaluation of Kashan Citizenʹs Attitudes and Behavioral Intentions Towards Water

In order to obtain information about Kashan peopleʹs awareness and attitudes towards water-related issues (e.g. water quality and water conservation) and increase their acceptability towards implementation of demand management measures, a surveying research is conducted. The results of this research is presented in this paper. In this research, a questionnaire was designed and distributed among 980 families through the school students of which 387 questionnaire (about 39.5 percent) were filled out and returned back. The results showed that Kashan people are not concerned about water deficit. Most of them are dissatisfied about water quality and most of their attitudes are positive toward water conservation. Statistical analysis showed that peopleʹs readiness for using water saving devices and their opinions about price of water is not dependent on education level of family director and the kind of possession; but there is significant correlation between peopleʹs opinions about water price and their residency period in Kashan. There is significant correlation between peopleʹs readiness for installing water saving devices with their knowledge about existence of these devices and their .believes toward water conservation. Considering that most of the families had expressed their readiness for implementation of water conservation programs, it can be concluded that this questionnaire was successful in changing peopleʹs attitudes toward water conservation.
