Review of˝ Platoʹ s Cosmology and Itʹ s Ethical Dimensions˝

اين مقاله نقد كتاب كيهان‌شناسي افلاطون و ابعاد اخلاقي آن از گابريلا روكسانا كارونه است. كارونه با محورقرار‌دادن تيمايوس، فيلبس، سياست‌مدار، و قوانين و با اين فرض تحقيق خود را آغاز مي‌كند كه كيهان‌شناسي افلاطون در اين محاورات مبناي جديدي براي نظرية اخلاق او فراهم مي‌كند كه فاقد نقص‌هاي آثار مياني افلاطون است. كارونه هم‌چنين تلاش مي‌كند تا تعارضات درون‌متني‌اي كه برخي مفسران در اين محاورات مي‌بينند ازيك‌طرف و تعارضات بين محاورات را به‌طور‌كلي برطرف كند. باوجود جامعيت اثر در طرح مسائل و منابع و انديشمندانه‌بودن استدلال‌ها و دقت در تحليل متن براي اثبات فرضيه‌ها، پرسش‌هايي هست كه كارونه به آن‌ها نپرداخته است: آيا لازمة فهم افلاطون جامعيت و انسجام و فاقد تعارض ديدن آثار اوست؟ هم‌چنين آيا فهم كيهان‌شناسي افلاطون وابسته به بسترهاي تاريخي آن نيست؟ كارونه بيش‌تر درمقام يك افلاطوني كتاب نوشته است، نه هم‌چون يك محقق و مفسر بي‌طرف.

This essay is a review of Platoʹ s Cosmology and Itʹ s Ethical Dimensions by Gabriela Roxana Carone. Carone begins by centralizing Timaeus, Philebus, Statesman and Laws and by assumption that Platoʹ s cosmology in these dialogues provides a new foundation for his ethical theory that doesn’t has faults which were in his medium works. Carone also attempts to resolve generally the conflicts inside texts that some interpreters see in these dialogues in one hand and conflicts between dialogues generally in other hand. Despite of comprehensiveness of the book to problems scheme and references and precise analysis of passages for demonstration of assumptions, there are some problems that Carone hasn’t treat them; Does Platoʹ s understanding needs to see his works collectively and comprehensively and is there any conflict in his works? Also does not understanding of Platoʹ s cosmology depend on studying its historical backgrounds? Carone has written as Platonist more than as an impartial investigator and interpreter.
