Sultan Mir Ahmad Quarter of Kashan: A study on the structure and changes

محلۀ سلطان ميراحمد بخشي از محدودۀ تاريخي كاشان است كه خصوصيات منحصربه‌فردي دارد. قرارگيري در مجاورت عناصر ارزشمندي از شهر سلجوقي و وجود خانه‌هاي باارزش كه از نمونه‌هاي مهم در ايران به شمار مي‌آيند، ازجمله اين خصوصيات است. باوجوداين، محلۀ يادشده همچون ديگر بخش‌هاي محدودۀ تاريخي كاشان دستخوش تغيير و تحولات ناشي از توسعۀ شهري و ساخت‌وسازهاي جديد شده است؛ ساخت‌وسازهاي ناشي از طرح‌هاي جامع و تفصيلي كه بنا بر سنت شهرسازي چند دهۀ اخير، علاقه‌ و توجهي به شناخت و درك صحيح از يك محدودۀ تاريخي شهري ندارند. ازاين‌رو با وجود برخي تلاش‌هاي صورت‌گرفته در جهت حفظ نسبي، محلۀ سلطان ميراحمد از تغييرات حاصل از تحولات شهري دهه‌هاي اخير بي‌نصيب نبوده است. حفظ يك محدودۀ شهري تاريخي به ميزان قابل توجهي به شناخت آن مربوط است. بدين سبب اين مقاله در پي مطالعه و معرفي خصوصيات اصلي و عناصر مهم‌تر بافت شهري محله و همچنين بررسي و مطالعۀ آسيب‌هاي وارد بر آن است. در اين پژوهش كه بيشتر بر مطالعات ميداني استوار بوده، به مطالعۀ عناصر مهم بافت و نقش آن‌ها در محدودۀ شهري مورد نظر پرداخته شده است. همچنين تلاش شده تا وضعيت فعلي بافت با آخرين وضعيت ثبت‌شدۀ اصيل كه در تصويرها و عكس‌هاي هوايي قابل مشاهده است، مقايسه شود. اين مقايسه تفاوت ساختار و الگوي شهري محله در گذشته و حال حاضر را آشكار مي‌كند و همچنين اثرات ثانوي اين تغييرات و دگرگوني‌ها را كه موجب بروز اثراتي چون حذف و الحاق اندام‌هاي شهري و آشفتگي بصري شده است، به تصوير مي‌كشد.

The Sultan Mir Ahmad quarter is a section of historical area of Kashan which includes unique features. Among these features, one might think of being situated adjacent to valuable elements of Seljuqi city and existence of valuable and magnificent houses therein which are deemed to be notable instances of Iran. Similar to other sections of historical area of Kashan, however, this quarter has undergone certain changes as a result of urban development and new constructions; including the constructions as a result of comprehensive and detailed plans, which do not express any tendency toward properly understand and perceive the historical area of Kashan due to the tradition of urban developing in few recent decades. Despite certain attempts made for partial conservation, the Sultan Mir Ahmad quarter had been subject to changes as a result of urban development during recent decades. Conservation of a historical urban area is highly dependent upon the understanding of which. Therefore, this paper aims to study and introduce the main features and more important elements of urban context of this quarter as well as reviewing and studying damages caused thereto. This study, which is more based on empirical research, concerns understanding important elements of the context and their role in the aforementioned area. In addition, the study has tended to draw comparison between the current situation of the context and the last original registered condition which is shown through aerial photographs. This comparison reveals the urban pattern and structural difference of the quarter in past and present time. Moreover, it will portray the secondary effects caused by these changes which has resulted in urban districts expansion and contraction as well as visual disturbance.
