آميختگي روايات صحيح و مردود، سبب شده است تا متخصصين به دنبال روش تمايز و اعتبارسنجي روايات بروند، يكي از عناصري كه در تشخيص اعتبار روايات دخيل است، قرائن صدور روايت است، مسأله اين مقاله، چگونگي كشف اسباب صدور احاديث است. براي كشف فضاي صدور، ده مرحله عرضه گرديده است مانند: احراز تام بودن روايت مورد نظر، كشف خانواده حديثيِ آن، مقايسه با محكمات عقلي و نقلي و عمومات فوقاني، بررسي لحن روايت، بررسي شرايط زماني و مكانيِ معصومي كه روايت از او صادر شده است، بررسي شرايط اولين راويي كه روايت از او نقل شده است، تأييد يا منتفي كردن احتمال تقيه، تأييد يا منتفي كردن احتمال قضيه شخصيه بودنِ روايت. در اين مقاله، مراحلي كه بايد در موارد فوق طي شود به‌صورت قدم‌به‌قدم آمده است كه در صورت اجراي تمام مراحل، مي‌توان براساس ضوابط علوم حديث، حكم به اعتبار محتوايي حديث كرد و براي استظهار از آن اقدام نمود.
