گادامر تحت تأثير آراي هايدگر در باب مقوله فهم، زبان، زبانمندي و تاريخمندي فهم و... هرمنوتيك فلسفي را بنيان نهاد. او بي­آنكه در خوانش متن، «همچون اسلاف خود شلايرماخر و ديلتاي» با اتخاذ روش و محوريت­ بخشي به مؤلف در پي دستيابي به نيت مؤلف برآيد و يا خواننده را نقطه كانوني مقوله فهم و خوانش متن قرار دهد، با الهام از فلسفه هستي ­شناختي هايدگري، بر اين باور است كه تناظري سوژه ـ سوژه ميان خواننده و متن برقرار است و امتزاج افق نتيجه نهايي گفت‌وگوي ميان خواننده و متن به شمار مي ­آيد. اين در حالي است كه يكي از مهم­ترين بدفهمي­ ها درباب هرمنوتيك فلسفي گادامري در پژوهش ­هاي رايج آن است كه به‌ اشتباه از هرمنوتيك فلسفي به هرمنوتيك خواننده/ مفسر محور تعبير مي­ شود. اين اشتباه در دلايلي همچون بي‌‌توجهي به تغيير رويكرد روش‌محورانه در هرمنوتيك فلسفي به رويكرد ديالكتيكي، تلقي نادرست از مفهوم انطباق يا كاربرد در هرمنوتيك فلسفي، توجه نكردن به مفهوم بازي در هرمنوتيك فلسفي، جدا انگاري سوژه و ابژه و عدم التفات به امتزاج افق ­ها در هرمنوتيك فلسفي، تفكيك قائل نشدن ميان قلمرو هرمنوتيك فلسفي و نقد خواننده ­محور (هرمنوتيك ادبي) و... ريشه دارد. پژوهش حاضر كه به روش توصيفي ـ تحليلي انجام شده است، ريشه ­هاي اين بدفهمي را واكاوي مي‌كند
