پس از تجزيه اتحاد جماهير شوروي و پيدايش پنج كشور جديد در آسياي مركزي، فصل جديدي در روابط ايران با اين كشورها بوجود آمد. موضوع روابط جمهوري اسلامي ايران و تاجيكستان همواره با اهميت زيادي مطرح شده و اين امر پيش از هر چيز به سبب پيوندهاي تاريخي، فرهنگي و زباني موجود ميان دو كشور و ذكر اين حقيقت كه تاجيكستان به عنوان تنها كشور فارسي‌زبان در آسياي مركزي است كه وضعيت متمايزي با ساير كشورهاي اين منطقه دارد. آسياي مركزي از جمله مناطقي است كه از جايگاهي روزافزون در مناسبات منطقه‌اي و بين‌المللي، برخوردار گشته و اكنون به عنوان يكي از مهمترين زير سيستم‌هاي منطقه‌اي محسوب مي‌شود. سياست خارجي جمهوري اسلامي ايران در تاجيكستان، از يك سو بر پايه عوامل همگرايي در حوزه‌هاي سياسي، اقتصادي و فرهنگي، از فرصت‌ها و زمينه‌هاي نفوذ و همكاري، برخوردار است و از طرف ديگر با توجه به عوامل واگرايي با چالش‌ها و تهديداتي مواجه مي‌باشد كه بر‌آيند اين امر، همواره در جهت‌گيري سياست خارجي ايران در تاجيكستان تأثيرگذار بوده است. اين مقاله ضمن شناسايي مهمترين عوامل همگرايي و واگرايي پيش‌روي سياست خارجي ايران به ارزيابي كلي از خط مشي‌هاي اتخاذ شده در تاجيكستان مي‌پردازد.

After the breakup of the Soviet unio‎n and the emergence of the five new countries in Central Asia, a new chapter in Iran's relations with these countries arose. The issue of relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan has always been of great importance, first of all due to the historical, cultural and linguistic ties between the two countries, and the fact that Tajikistan is the only Persian language in Central Asia, which has a distinct status with other countries in the area. Central Asia is one of the areas that has a growing place in regional and international relations and is now considered one of the most important regional sub-systems. The foreign policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tajikistan, on the one hand, is based on the convergence factors in the political, economic and cultural spheres of the opportunities and areas of influence and cooperation, and on the other hand, due to divergent factors, faces challenges and threats that faced about it. This has always been influential in the direction of Iran's foreign policy in Tajikistan. This paper identifies the most important factors of the convergence and divergence of the advancement of Iran's foreign policy to a general assessment of the policy adopted in Tajikistan.
