رضاشاه به دليل ايجاد اصلاحات، تشكيل دولت مطلقه مدرن و يكسان سازي فرهنگي مورد نظر خود نيازمند به بازسازي هويت ملي جديد بود و به همين جهت براي رسيدن به مقصودش بسياري از مورخان ايندوره را موظف ساخت تا با بهره گيري از روش تاريخ نگاري ناسيوناليستي به اين كار بپردازند؛ به همين دليل اين نوع تاريخ نگاري در دوره رضاشاه پهلوي بسيارمورد اهميت قرار گرفته است. نظريه ناسيوناليستي تاريخ نگاري مانند بسياري ديگر از نظريه هاي تاريخ نگارانه تركيبي است از استدلال هايي كه بيانگر اشتراكاتي از ايران و نشانه هاي آن روايت پيوسته و متداوم از گذشته سرزمين ايران، تاريخ پرعظمت ايران باستان، تقديس ارزش هاي ناسيوناليستي مانند استقلال خواهي و تصوير و تصور ايران يكپارچه كه همگان به آن نگاهي يكسان و ستايش آميز دارند. در پژوهش حاضر تلاش شده تا اين نوع تاريخ نگاري مورد بررسي قرار گرفته و ضمن تاكيد نگاه ناسيوناليستي حاكم بر اين دوره، برخي ازمتون نگارش يافته در اين مقطع تاريخي نيز مورد توجه واقع شوند. ارائه نوعي تفسير و تحليل ويژه از تركيب ها و اشتراكات ملي و مذهبي كه به صورت بارز و آشكار در آثار تاريخي ايندوره به چشم مي خورد كه تغيير نگارش تاريخ ايران و تغيير سبك و نگاه به آن را به روشني نمايان مي سازد.
