A Clash of generations: Youth Population and Political Violence

امروزه نمي توانيم نقش تحولات جمعيت شناختي را در تبيين و ستيزه ها و هويت سياسي در سطح ملي، منطقه اي و بين المللي ناديده بگيريم. وجود " جواني جمعيت" (Youth Population) همواره در طول تاريخ با بحران سياسي در ارتباط بوده است.سوال اصلي مقاله پيرامون اين مساله است كه آيا " كشورها و مناطق با ساختار جمعيت جوان ، بيشتر در معرض دچار شدن به خشونت سياسي قرار دارند؟در اين راستا از روش "مرور نظام مند" (Systematic Review) و براي تبيين كردن مسلئه از نظريه هاي رابرت كاپلان(1994)، فريد زكريا(2001)، و ... استفاده شده است. نتايج نشان مي دهد كه ارتباط آماري بين ساختار سني جمعيت و خشونت سياسي امري شناخته و پذيرفته شده است. بنابراين همان طور كه آب باعث مي شود تا صخره شكل بگيرد، تغيرات جمعيتي نيز باعث شكل گيري قدرت سياسي مي شوند. روند هاي جمعيتي به طرق گوناگون مي توانند امنيت حكومت و توسعه كشورها را تحت تاثير قرار دهند جمعيت شناسي يقينا اين استحقاق را دارد كه در برنامه ريزي ها و تحليل هاي سياسي بيشتر مد نظر قرار گيرد تا از ايجاد خشونت ها و نزاع ها جلوگيري كند.

Nowadays, the role of demographic changes in explaining, conflict and political identity in national, regional and international level cannot be neglected. During the history, the existence of “youth population” and political crisis are interconnected. The main question posed in this articles is “whether countries and regions possessing young population are more exposed to political violence or not?” Thus, systematic review method is implemented in this study. To explain the problem, Robert Kaplan(1994) and Fareed Zakaria’s (2001) theories are used. It is concluded that there is an acceptable relationship between age structure of population and political violence. As water forms rocks, demographic change forms political power. Demographic trends can affect the security and development of government in different ways. Demography, certainly, deserves to be considered more in political planning and analysis to prevent violence and conflict.
