امروزه كشورها به اين نتيجه رسيده‌اند كه پيش‌گيري اجتماعي از جرم رويكرد بسيار مناسب، كارآمد و مقرون به صرفه‌تر از ساير روش‌هاي پيش‌گيري است از طرفي، طي چهار دهه اخير، بر اساس يافته‌هاي نوين جرم شناسي پيش‌گيري، تحولي شگرف در امور پليسي به وجود آمده است. از جمله اين تحولات و نوآوري ها، پيدايش راهبرد پليسي جامعه‌محور در دو زمينه مسئله‌محوري و محله‌محوري بوده است. لازمه‌ پرداختن به اين رويكرد، تبيين همكاري و تعامل گسترده نهادهاي محلي و شهروندان (مشاركت جامعوي) با امور پليسي در بُعد پيش‌گيري اجتماعي، فراهم آوردن دانش نظري لازم و بررسي مباني، اصول و مفاهيم پيش‌گيري‌هاي اجتماعي و پليس محله‌محور است كه از هدف اين مقاله محسوب مي‌شود. نوشتار حاضر با استفاده از روش توصيفي- تحليلي و با مطالعه منابع كتابخانه‌اي و اسنادي انجام شده است. نتايج حاصل از اين مطالعه نشان مي‌دهد كه پيش‌گيري اجتماعي از جرم تعامل موثري با راهبرد پليس جامعوي دارد و تخصص پليسي در كنار مشاركت مردمي و نيز توسعه همكاري‌هاي بين پليس و افراد و نهادهاي جامعوي در ارتباط با پيش‌گيري اجتماعي رشدمدار و جامعه مدار از جرم و بزه، بيش از پيش اثربخشر و كارا خواهد بود.
