مجموعه بررسي‌ها و تجزيه و تحليل‌هاي انجام شده در مورد حوادث آتش سوزي و نحوه عملكرد نيروهاي امدادي آتش نشاني نشانگر آن است كه محدوديت‌ها ونارسايي هاي عمده‌اي در مديريت اطلاعات، مكان يابي و همچنين ارزيابي سوانح از ديدگاه مديريت بحران مي‌باشد. لذا جهت گيري اين مقاله ارائه تكنيك‌هاي مهندسي بهينه در اين زمينه مي‌باشد. نوع تحقيق از نظر هدف كاربردي و از نظر روش و ماهيت توصيفي- تحليلي مي‌باشد. در اين زمينه ضمن تشريح مفاهيم كاربردي بحران، طبقه بندي بحران، مديريت بحران، مديريت ريسك، تكنيك‌هاي مهندسي اطلاعات از جمله فناوريهاي نوين در فرايند مديريت بحران در آتش نشاني GIS- ‌ WEB GIS - MOBILE GIS --Decision Support System و مدلهاي مكان يابي از جمله مدل GIS و ماتريس ارتباطات و پتانسيل جمعيتي و روشهاي ارزيابي سانحه تشريح شده است.
