Review of the Book "Politics of Knowledge in the Islamic world: The convergence of knowledge and ideology in the Seljuq period"

نوشتار حاضر جايگاه تبييني و تفسيري كتاب سياست/ دانش در جهان اسلام همسوئي معرفت و ايدئولوژي در دوره سلجوقي را از دو منظر ايجابي و سلبي مورد نقد قرار مي­ دهد. دوران حكومت سلجوقيان، دوران متمايزي را در تاريخ ايران و جهان اسلام رقم زد. وضعيت فرهنگيِ جامعه اسلامي به ويژه از منظر دانش و رابطه آنها با نهاد سياست در دوره سلجوقي از وجوه ممتاز و كمتر شناخته شده فرهنگ و تمدن اسلامي در اين دوره است. مؤلّف كتاب با استفاده از نظريه ­هاي لوئي آلتوسر و ميشل فوكو چگونگي رابطه متقابل دو نهاد سياست و دانش در دوره سلجوقي را بررسي كرده است. از نكات ممتاز اين كتاب مي‌توان به اهميت موضوع و پردازش متفاوتِ مطلب و ترجمة سليس و روان آن اشاره كرد. از سوي ديگر، ناكامي در ارائه يك توصيف يك­دست و گويا از موضوع، تعميم نامناسب، كم­توجهي به شيوه پژوهش تاريخي، وجود اغلاط محتوايي، برخي معادل­يابي­هاي نامناسب و اغلاط چاپي در ترجمه را نيز مي­توان به عنوان نارسايي‌هاي كتاب دانست.

In this article was been criticized the explanatory and interpretative function of the book of "Politics of Knowledge in the Islamic world: The convergence of knowledge and ideology in the Seljuq period" from two positive and negative aspects. The cultural status of the Islamic society, especially from the standpoint of knowledge and its relationship with the political institution in the Seljuq period, is one of the privileged and lesser known aspects of Islamic culture and civilization. The author of the book, using the theories of Louis Althusser and Michel Foucault, has examined the relationship between the two institutions of politics and knowledge in the Seljuq period. Some outstanding Notes of the book were Importance of subject and different producing of it, Fluent and understandable translation, focus on an important, complex and new topic in the research, explanation and interpretation of the subject using a variety of historical and geographical sources, But in the book can be found many imperfections as the failure to provide an understandable description of the subject, inappropriate generalization, and inattention to the historical research method, some intermittent themes in the original text, and some inappropriate equivalence, and typic and editing errors in translated text.
