اين پژوهش كه برگرفته از رساله دكتري است نشان مي‌دهد، ايران و تركيه دو كشور اسلامي همسايه و مهم در منطقه، هم‌زمان داراي زمينه‌هاي رقابتي هستند. عوامل و متغيرهاي زيادي در رقابت‌هاي امنيتي شكل گرفته ميان ايران و تركيه و تنگناي امنيتي ايجاد شده نقش دارند كه مي‌توان به عوامل و انگيزه‌هاي سياسي، اقتصادي، فرهنگي و ژئوپليتيكي اشاره كرد. نظريات امنيتي نيز نشان مي‌دهند كشورها در شرايط تنگناي امنيتي به صورت منطقي قادر به يافتن راه‌حل براي مقابله با عوارض ايجاد شده توسط سوءتفاهم‌ها و بي‌اعتمادي و كاهش عدم اطمينان نيستند و صرفاً با تكيه بر سطوحي كه در آن با يكديگر همكاري مي‌كنند مي‌توانند به وضعيت مديريت برسند. اين پژوهش با روش آميخته و تكيه بر نظرات خبرگان و تحليل مضمون آن به دنبال آن است تا ضمن تبيين تنگناها و معماي امنيتي بين دو كشور و حفظ و ارتقاء روابط و همكاري‌ها، فرايندي براي مديريت راهبردي تنگناهاي امنيتي ميان دو كشور مبتني بر منافع ملي پيشنهاد نمايد. نهايتاً مشخص گرديد فرايند مذكور بايستي شامل شناخت و تبيين تنگناي امنيتي، يافتن جايگاه نقاط تنگناهاي امنيتي در سياست امنيتي و سياست خارجي جمهوري اسلامي ايران و تركيه و به صورت كلان در محيط امنيتي دو كشور و منطقه، مشخص نمودن نقاط اشتراك، افتراق و عوامل كليدي در هر يك از تنگناهاي امنيتي ميان ايران و تركيه، احصاء دقيق منافع ملي جمهوري اسلامي در تنگناهاي امنيتي با تركيه و تصميم‌گيري و مشخص نمودن راه­كارهاي مديريت تنگناهاي امنيتي باشد.
